Information about Wildfire MWF-017 (May 12, 2024)

Attention Parents and Guardians, 

We are closely monitoring the situation around the wildfire MWF-017. The wildfire is currently listed as out of control and is located southwest of Fort McMurray. Given the out of control status, an evacuation alert is in place for Fort McMurray, Saprae Creek Estates, Gregoire Lake Estates, Fort McMurray First Nation #468, Anzac, and Rickards Landing Industrial Park. There is no immediate risk to these communities, the alert ensures residents are prepared to evacuate if conditions change.

We know Anzac families have questions about the operation status of Anzac School and Bill Woodward School tomorrow (Monday, May 13, 2024). All decisions will continue to be made using the best information available at the time in consultation with Alberta Wildfire, RMWB Emergency Management, and official sources.

• Anzac School and Bill Woodward School will be open.
• We recognize that some families may choose to not send their children to school tomorrow. We understand this decision, as it is always at the discretion of the parent/guardian. Please notify the school to excuse this absence.
